Present Projects

In Mugardos (Spain/ Galicia) the company Tractebel Gas Engineering GmbH is now constructing a deposit of LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) for the Reganosa consortium.

The Liquefied Natural Gas is provisionally stored in this LNG deposit in two tanks, each one having a volume of  150.000 m³, before being evaporated again and finally sold as natural gas in a  gaseous state.

LNG is the abbreviation for Liquefied Natural Gas. Since transport of natural gas from distant gas fields by means of gas pipelines can be difficult or expensive, natural gas is liquefied by refrigeration until approximately -162º C, thus reducing the volume in relation to the previous gaseous state about 600 times. This LNG is transported in special ships to the countries which consume it, so that there, once it is provisionally stored in the corresponding tanks, it can be turned into gas again.

You can see each phase of construction in the following links, starting from the beginning of the construction of the LNG tank until its completion and that of the building´s foundations and the installations, including the construction plans related to the LNG deposit. Moreover, a video with the title “Raise of the second dome” (“Izado segunda cúpula”) shows the technique with which the steel ceiling of the tank was pushed up.

My duties in the construction of the LNG tank are:

  • Calculation, engineering and design of:

-         ground installation, power connection and protection against rays

-         electrical distribution, electrical intallation and lighting of the building

Later on, my duties in the construction of the LNG tank will include:

  • Supervision of work, reception  and setting in motion of:

-         ground installation, power connection and protection against rays

-         electrical distribution, electrical installation and lighting of the building

-         electrical distribution, adjustment and wiring for external lighting

-         tracing of wiring and external wiring
